“We Saw It With Our Own Eyes”

2 Peter 1:16 KJV

[16] “For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.”

Peter is speaking from experience in this verse. He saw the transfigured Christ with his own eyes. He saw Jesus, Moses, and Elijah in their glorified state. Can you imagine what that must have been like? However, Peter was not focused on Moses and Elijah. He was focused only on Jesus Christ. It reminds me of the old song that says, “Jesus will outshine them all.”

The majesty of Jesus Christ will be far greater than you and I could ever imagine. In Heaven, we will be living in the light of the Risen Lamb. Jesus will be the center of Heaven’s glory. He will outshine the angels with His majesty. We will spend eternity glorifying the Son of God and magnifying His name. What a day that will be when we see Jesus face to face.

Peter never got over what he witnessed on the Mount of Transfiguration. It changed him forever when he saw the Son of God glorified before him. One day, we will be witnesses as Peter was. The only difference is that we will also be glorified in His presence. Can you imagine what that will be like? We will be standing in the presence of Christ in glorified bodies. We will be like Him on that wonderful day! We will no longer have to deal with this body of sin and death, but we will live in glory with Jesus. We will have a body that will never suffer pain or have a vile thought again. A perfect body in which to serve our Majestic King without any limitations whatsoever.

Dear reader, this could be today! We could hear the trumpet sound and be standing in His presence “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.” Some people will go from misery to majesty in just a moment. I often think about that when I think about Jesus coming again. There will be a saint of God dying somewhere in this world, and their family will be gathered around their bedside, weeping and saying their last goodbyes. Then, all of a sudden, the Rapture will occur, and they will all be standing in the presence of Jesus in glorified bodies! Can you imagine the rejoicing that will take place on that day when He calls us out? Peter saw the glory of God and reminded believers to keep pressing on because He is coming. I want to remind you today to keep pressing on because Jesus is coming, and it might be today! We were not eyewitnesses of His glory on the mountain that day, but we will be witnesses of His glory in Heaven some sweet day. Press on, my friend, until that grand and glorious day comes!
