1 Peter 5:10 KJV
[10] “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”
As believers, we must remember that there is no substitute for God’s grace. Peter is encouraging these saints to remember that the God they serve will give them grace to help in their time of need. They were facing great persecution for their faith, but were also experiencing immeasurable amounts of grace to serve under such pressure. The grace of God was sufficient then, and it is still enough today.
I am thankful there is no shortage of His grace. Grace will stabilize, strengthen, and settle us in our trials. God does not promise in this verse to remove the suffering. He makes it clear that saints will suffer, but they will not suffer alone.
Grace is the unmerited favor of God, which He shows to us every day, but there are deeper measures of His grace bestowed on us in difficult times. I am thankful that we can trust the grace of God to help us regardless of what we face in life. God will be near us, ready to strengthen us when we are troubled. What a loving and caring God He is to His children. We could not make it one day on this earth without His grace.
We must share this message of grace with the world. Think about the people we come in contact with from day to day who know nothing about the grace of God. They wander through this life never knowing that the Lord loves them and cares for their soul. They face the struggles of life alone and need someone to lean on. We must give them the hope of the Gospel. We must point them to the Lord Jesus Christ and let them know that there is hope regardless of who they are or where they have been. Many may feel they have gone too far, but we were all beyond hope before the Lord found us. The only reason we can claim this wonderful salvation today is because of His grace. We must reach the world with the Gospel.
We must also encourage one another to keep serving the Lord faithfully in these last days. My mind goes to the weary brother or sister who is thinking about changing course or quitting. The grace of God is sufficient for service as well as salvation. If God would show us enough grace to save us from Hell, then He will certainly supply us with enough grace to serve Him until He calls us home. We must not compromise in these last days but trust the grace of God to keep us in His will.
