2 Peter 1:11 KJV
[11] “for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
If we are diligent in adding to our faith, then there will be no occasion for stumbling. On the contrary, an entrance will be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom. This verse may suggest the possibility that not everyone in the coming kingdom will have an abundant entry. We know that the ground is level at the foot of the Cross, and salvation is for all who put their faith and trust in Christ. The finished work of Calvary is no doubt the ground entrance into the kingdom. However, we must move toward perfection. We must add to our faith and cultivate our Christian walk with the Lord.
Many people are content with a profession of faith and nothing more. This first chapter focuses on adding to saving faith and that there is more to salvation than being saved from Hell. There is an everlasting kingdom to look forward to someday. We must take the time to invest in eternity. We cannot afford to get so wrapped up in this world that we lose sight of a better world. Beyond this veil of sorrow is a glorious kingdom with a glorious King! One day, our faith will end in sight and we will enter that everlasting kingdom to live forever.
Until we reach that celestial city, we must work diligently for the King. Too many of God’s people are at ease in Zion and have lost their hunger for Him. We need revival in our personal lives. We need to draw closer to the Lord and strive to serve Him wholeheartedly. May the Lord help us to keep adding to our faith and growing in the Lord. I promise that when you walk through the entrance of that kingdom, you will be glad you gave Him your best. It reminds me of the old song, “I Wonder, Have I Done My Best for Jesus?” The songwriter reminds us in this song, “when He has done so much for me.” Dear reader, examine your life and see how much the Lord has done for you. Don’t you want to hear Him say, “Well done”? If so, then you must do well. Strive to please Him in your daily walk and witness. Do all for the glory of God and not for the praise of men. Look on the bright side, instead of the dreary side of life. Remember that He has been so good to you, and one day you will walk through the entrance of an everlasting kingdom. Heaven will surely be worth all the labor we have done here on earth. One day, there will be no reason to worry about stumbling again. We will be free from sin and Satan in an everlasting kingdom.
